Think you need a medical exam to get life insurance? Think again. Final expense insurance is one of the simplest, fastest types of life insurance you can buy — and it never requires a medical exam.
No blood tests. No doctor visits. No waiting weeks for results. Just a short phone conversation with a licensed agent, and you can be approved in as little as 15 minutes.
I’m Michael Cubell, an independent insurance agent with Triangle Life & Health. I’ve helped hundreds of families get covered quickly and affordably. Here’s exactly how the no-exam process works.
How Final Expense Insurance Works Without a Medical Exam
There are two types of no-exam final expense policies:
1. Simplified Issue (Best Option for Most People)
This is what about 80% of my clients qualify for. Here’s how it works:
- You answer 8-12 simple yes/no health questions over the phone
- No medical exam, no blood work, no doctor visit
- Full coverage starts immediately — from day one
- Approval typically happens the same day
- Lowest premiums of any final expense policy type
Common conditions that are usually fine with simplified issue: high blood pressure (controlled with medication), Type 2 diabetes (managed), high cholesterol, arthritis, and many others.
2. Guaranteed Issue (For Those Who’ve Been Declined)
If you have more serious health conditions or have been declined by other carriers, guaranteed issue is your safety net:
- No health questions at all — everyone ages 50-85 is accepted
- No medical exam
- Coverage amounts typically $5,000-$25,000
- 2-year graded benefit period — if you pass away from natural causes in the first 2 years, your beneficiary receives a return of premiums plus interest (usually 10%). After 2 years, the full benefit applies.
- Premiums are higher than simplified issue
Accidental death is covered in full from day one, even with guaranteed issue.
The Application Process — What to Expect
Here’s exactly what happens when you apply:
- Call us at (919) 944-8443 or schedule a consultation
- We’ll chat for about 5 minutes about your age, health, and how much coverage you need
- I’ll compare rates from multiple carriers and show you the best options
- If you like what you see, we complete the application together — takes about 10-15 minutes
- Most applications are approved immediately
- Your policy is active and your family is protected
The entire process — from first call to active coverage — can happen in a single phone call.
Who Should Consider No-Exam Final Expense Insurance?
- Ages 50-85 who want affordable coverage for funeral and end-of-life expenses
- People with health conditions who think they can’t get covered
- Anyone who’s been declined for traditional life insurance
- People who don’t want the hassle of exams, lab work, and long wait times
- Parents and grandparents who want to make sure their family isn’t burdened
How Much Does It Cost?
Most of my clients pay between $30 and $70 per month for $10,000-$25,000 in coverage. Your exact rate depends on your age, health, and coverage amount.
The biggest factor? Your age when you apply. Every year you wait, your rate goes up. Locking in a rate today means you’ll never pay more — your premium is guaranteed to stay the same for life.
Why an Independent Agent Gets You the Best Rate
If you call a carrier directly (like AARP, Globe Life, or Colonial Penn), you’re only seeing one company’s rates. They can’t tell you if another carrier offers the same coverage for less.
As an independent agent, I work with multiple carriers — including Mutual of Omaha, Transamerica, Aetna, and others. I compare them all and find you the lowest rate for your specific health situation.
My service is completely free. The carriers pay me, not you. And there’s never any obligation — if you don’t like the rate, you walk away.
